Berlin is the venue of this year’s European Championships in beach volleyball, in which some of the top players in the O2 world will be. Although beach volleyball is likely associated with beach and sea, the most important event of the sport will take place this summer in the heart of Berlin. From the 11th until the 15th of August, the O2 world arena in the German capital is 2010 venue of the beach volleyball championships. As a single international beach volleyball tournament, which this year takes place in Germany, the event certainly will entice fans from all over Germany to Berlin. Many of the top players in Europe are expected there, among the reigning German champions Julius Brink and Jonas Radke, that would consume only too gladly this trophy for themselves. The duo can expect with the vociferous support of the domestic audience, with the lively atmosphere in the O2 world arena of course also the teams benefit from other Nations. The tournament includes a competition for men and one for women, where 24 teams participate.
Fans can enjoy exciting and thrilling encounters a lot, if the teams in the sand compete for a prize money amounting to 200,000. Last year, the European Championship in Sochi in Russia took place, where the Dutch team to the second consecutive gold medal in the men’s competition. So far the tournament held twice in Germany, but for the first time in Berlin this year. 2008 was the venue of Hamburg and 2004 Timmendorfer Strand in the Bay of Lubeck. Tickets for the finals on Sunday 15th August are between 21.00 and 169,50 EUR available.
